The Bahia plant in Brazil has announced that its previous owner, the American Ford Motor Company, will close the plant along with two other plants in Brazil in 2021.
President Lula arrived in Shanghai and attended the inauguration ceremony of former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff at the National Development Bank (NDB).
The NDB was spearheaded in 2015 by BRICS, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, which finances infrastructure projects in Brazil and developing countries. The new international financial systems of China and Brazil, which are against the World Bank, are trying to settle in their own currencies.
"Every night I ask myself, 'Why should every country link to the dollar in trade? Why can't we do it in our own currency?'" Lula said in a speech at the New Development Bank (NDB).
