Yoon Seok-yeol distorted ‘national independence’ into ‘importation of liberal ideology’, ‘maximization of freedom’ in North Korea, the October Surprise approach

President Yoon Seok-yeol distorted the ‘national freedom’ of the March 1st Independence Movement into a ‘struggle to import liberal ideology’, and formalized the strategy of creating an extreme right-wing state by ‘maximizing freedom’ in Korea and ‘stimulating civil war by spreading freedom in North Korea, showing the October Surprise approach.
In his Liberation Day speech, President Yoon defined the March 1st Independence as ‘importation of liberal ideology’, and portrayed the subsequent provisional government as a ‘liberal ideology association’, and made Liberation Day into ‘foundation of the country by Syngman Rhee government in 1948’ by relying on actual ‘liberal ideology’, and announced a unification policy of ‘stimulating North Korean residents to induce civil war’ by connecting liberation to ‘spreading liberal ideology to North Korea’, and announced a unification policy of ‘strategy of inducing civil war by stimulating North Korean residents’.

Bruce Klingner, a senior researcher at the Heritage Foundation, said on the 14th, "Some experts predict that Kim Jong-un could cause an 'October surprise' such as a nuclear test or an ICBM launch over the Japanese archipelago in order to gain benefits when Trump returns," and revealed in a discussion at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on the 'possibility of US presidential election interference'.

President Yoon's Liberation Day 'North Korea freedom expansion' strategy is seen as provoking a conflict with North Korea that will affect the US presidential election in November, and the Heritage Foundation, a hard-line conservative strategy group affiliated with President Yoon, announced the 'redeployment of tactical nuclear weapons to South Korea' in a report on the 30th of last month, and Presidential Security Service Director Kim Yong-hun, who the president nominated as the new Minister of Defense on the 12th, announced 'nuclear armament' on the 16th, saying 'all means are open' to 'possession of nuclear weapons'.

President Yoon's surprise replacement of the head of the National Security Office appears to have been a move to replace Director Shin Won-sik as the head of the National Security Office and dismiss him in order to appoint Director Kim of the Presidential Security Service as the new Minister of National Defense, who is linked to the Heritage Foundation, ahead of the Liberation Day declaration of the "North Korea disruption strategy."

President Yoon’s Liberation Day speech stated, “In 1919, our people began efforts to establish a free democratic nation where the people are the masters of the Korean peninsula,” and “Although liberation was achieved with the defeat of Japan in 1945, our liberation cannot but be incomplete as long as the division system continues. The freedom we enjoy must be expanded to the land of the North.” This corresponds to the strategy of ‘provoking civil war’ in North Korea through ‘spreading the system of free ideology.’
At the beginning of his congratulatory speech that day, President Yoon stated, “Through the March 1st Movement in 1919, we confirmed the unanimous desire to create a free nation where the people are the masters. With this desire, we established the Shanghai Provisional Government, and the struggle for freedom continued even after the liberation in 1945.

In 1948, we established the Republic of Korea government on this land by enacting the Constitution of Free Democracy,” formalizing ‘1945 to 1948’ as the ‘period of struggle for freedom’ and the ‘absence of the Korean state.’

The March 1st Declaration of Independence stated, “We insist on the eternal and unchanging development of the nation, and we will adapt to the great opportunity and momentum for world reform that is rooted in the expression of human conscience.”
The translation is expressed by Namuwiki as “We insist on the eternal and unchanging development of the nation, and we will adapt to the great opportunity and momentum for world reform that is rooted in the expression of human conscience.”
The Declaration of Independence is usually interpreted as stating, “For the eternal and unchanging development of the nation.”
President Yoon changed this section to “the beginning of the founding of Korea as a ‘liberal ideological struggle’” in Section 31 last year, saying, “At the root of the Gimi Declaration of Independence was (omitted) ‘liberalism.’”

President Yoon directly quoted this passage on March 1st last year, saying, “Our people want to develop freely forever, and to keep pace with the great flow of world change that humanity is creating according to its conscience.” He then stated, “At the root of the Gimi Independence Declaration was ‘liberalism,’ which was the great flow of world history at the time,” clearly indicating the ‘importation of the ideology of freedom’ into the independence movement.
The core of the Declaration of Independence, Pledge No. 1, clearly states the four demands of the people: ‘justice, humanity, survival, and respect,’ and through the ‘free spirit,’ ‘rejection of exclusivity’ is stipulated, making ‘harmony’ of the people a basic value.
Article 2 of the ‘Pledge of the Three Chapters’ of the Declaration of Independence explicitly states, regarding the ‘spirit of freedom,’ “Unleash the legitimate will of the people until the last person, until the last moment,” clearly stating it as ‘the expression of the legitimate will of the people as individuals.’ The third article of the pledge clearly states that “all actions must respect order” and stipulates “unity and order” in the independence movement, making it clearly different from the “liberal movement.”

In his March 1st speech last year, President Yoon changed the phrase “The Gimi Independence Declaration toward Japan (omitted) Now, Korea and Japan have overcome their painful past and are heading toward a “new world” (omitted) and have become partners who share the values of freedom, human rights, and the rule of law, pursue common interests, and cooperate for world peace and prosperity” to “maintaining unity and order with Japan.”

This part, which President Yoon changed, is a declaration of “eternal free development of the nation” in the recovery of “national self-respect” and “humanism” that were declarations of independence of a colonial country in the era of imperialism, and President Yoon changed it to “freely develop” and made it a “liberal expansion movement” and dramatized “the spread of freedom to North Korea is liberation” on this Liberation Day.

President Yoon’s ‘Korea-Japan Freedom Value Alliance’ was defined as ‘Korea-Japan Alliance for Liberation’ in his March 1st speech last year, in the phrases <When the blood shed by our ancestors moistens the ground and sprouts the seeds of freedom>, <The patriotic ancestors who devoted themselves to the freedom and prosperity of our country>, <Holding the belief in freedom in our hearts>, <The Republic of Korea chants freedom and prosperity>, and <I and the government protect the values of freedom, the spirit of the March 1st Movement>.
The conclusion of the March 1st Memorial Speech, which President Yoon intensively adapted, was <The March 1st Movement is finally complete with unification where everyone enjoys freedom and abundance>, and <We must revive the spirit of the Gimi Independence Declaration, expand freedom, expand peace, and move forward on the path to prosperity. Towards unification at the end of that path>, which was a domestic and international declaration of ‘expansion of freedom’, and this Liberation Day ‘spread of freedom to North Korea’ has confirmed this as a policy. Democratic Party Acting Representative Park Chan-dae consistently criticized the commemorative speech by changing it from “pro-Japanese” to “new right” and blocked access to the “far-right fascist system.”

Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party representative, agreed with President Yoon’s “freedom expansion” commemorative speech on March 1st last year by abruptly changing the focus of the declaration of independence to “freedom” by saying, “On that land, there is a loud cry for independence, freedom, and equality.”

Regarding the March 1st commemorative speech in 2022, Representative Lee issued a strong response commentary, saying, “Our founding ideology and constitutional spirit have been completely denied by the president’s mouth.” On March 1st of last year, the representative stated on Facebook, “This is the day when the loud cries of independence, freedom, and equality resounded over the very land that lost its sovereignty due to invasion,” and “This is the way to properly respond to the devotion of our ancestors who did not lose their dream of independence and a free and equal country over the past 105 years (omitted).” However, this year, he avoided direct response and cooperated with the Yoon Seok-yeol regime, saying, “People’s livelihood is politics.”

The Encyclopedia of Korean Culture evaluated the Declaration of Independence as “presenting a method of developing independence through national self-determination in a non-violent and peaceful manner based on humanitarianism,” and stated “humanitarianism” and “national self-respect” as the background, saying, “When the principle of national self-determination by U.S. President Wilson (T.W.) was announced, national leaders thought that the opportunity to launch an independence movement had come, and efforts to pursue it emerged.” <Refer to Yoon Seok-yeol's Declaration of Independence, 'National Freedom Development', 'Liberalism' Modification, Lee Jae-myung's Collaboration, March 2, 2023>
