Israel 'Supports Trump' Trump 'Attacks Iran's Nuclear Weapons' Biden 'Rejects Attacking Oil Fields'
A poll was released showing that Israelis are 'supporting Trump' in the lead, and US Republican candidate Trump announced that 'Iran's nuclear weapons should be attacked', and President Biden expressed 'signs of Netanyahu's interference in the US election' and 'rejects the attack on oil fields'.
A September national survey conducted by Langer Research Associates and Public Opinion Research Israel (PORI) on US presidential candidate preferences in Israel showed that 58% of Israelis answered that Trump would be better for Israel's security, while only 20% answered for Harris.
A poll by ABC polling agency LRS was released on the 4th showing that if Israelis were to vote in the US presidential election, Trump would be twice as likely to vote for Harris, 54% to 24%. In a late-August and mid-September ABC LRS poll, American Jews preferred Harris over Trump by 63% to 33%, and in Israel, Harris was lower than the Democrat.
On the 4th, Republican candidate Trump said at a town hall event, “Israel should attack Iran’s nuclear facilities,” adding, “I think he (Biden) is wrong,” and “Isn’t that the target?”
The day before, Trump said in a Fox News interview that President Biden’s remarks that Israel should not attack Iran’s nuclear facilities were “the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.”
The New York Times reported that day that when asked in the White House press room whether Prime Minister Netanyahu was not agreeing to a diplomatic agreement for a ceasefire that President Biden had repeatedly demanded in order to influence the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, President Biden said, “Bibi (referring to Prime Minister Netanyahu) should remember that. I don’t know if he’s trying to influence the election, but I don’t think he is.” President Biden then said, "If I were in their shoes, I would think of alternatives other than attacking the oil fields," expressing his opposition to the oil field attack.
On the 3rd, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy said on CNN, "Prime Minister Netanyahu is not interested in negotiating a ceasefire with the Palestinian militant group Hamas in order to influence the US presidential election, and is attacking the pro-Iran militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon, pushing the Middle East toward an all-out war." A reporter asked the president about this statement that day, and he responded.
President Biden said the day before (the 3rd) that he was "discussing" the possibility of Israel attacking Iran's vast oil fields, but changed his position the next day, saying, "If I were in their shoes, I would think of alternatives other than attacking the oil fields," and turned to opposing the oil field attack.
President Biden told reporters that day, "Israel has not concluded how they will attack or what they will do. That is under discussion." “I assume we’ll have discussions when they make their judgment call on how to respond,” Biden said of his discussions with Netanyahu. “His team is in constant contact with the Prime Minister’s team. They’re trying to figure it out. They’re not making a decision right away.” So we will wait and see when they want to talk," he said, revealing a "control strategy."
ABC's LRS poll showed Harris slightly ahead of Trump's presidency among Israeli opposition supporters, 39% to 37%.
On the other hand, Israeli opposition supporters also favored Trump over Harris as "better for Israel's security" by 41% to 32%.
Trump's overwhelming support came from Orthodox Jews in Israel, 85% to 4%.
The gap widened among ultra-Orthodox Jews, with Trump at 69% and Harris at 3%, while secular Jews favored Trump by 11 percentage points over Harris, 46% to 35%, and among traditional Jews, the gap was 65% to 17%.
On the question of whether Israel is "doing too much to avoid casualties" in the Hamas war, 28% said it is "doing the right thing" and 14% said it is “Too few,” he said, responding to the military’s overstretch.
The survey was conducted in September as part of a face-to-face omnibus survey conducted by Public Opinion Research Israel (PORI), a leading Israeli public opinion research firm founded in 1966, and was conducted in Hebrew and Arabic with 1,012 respondents from all over Israel using a local probability sample.
The survey was conducted by randomly selecting 100 primary sampling units, selecting households through a random walk, and selecting respondents through the last birthday method. Each selected household was revisited by the researcher up to three times, and for quality control, 20% of each interviewer’s work was randomly rechecked by phone, PORI said.
